Professional certificates are becoming increasingly important as a career requirement for university and college graduates. Through distance learning, the CCEE offers a professional, innovative, university-level Certificate in Environmental Practice (CEP). Designed in accordance with ECO Canada’s National Occupational Standards for Environmental Employment, the CEP provides you with professional development, educational upgrading, and additional academic qualifications relevant to employment in the Canadian environment sector.

The Certificate in Environmental Practice is designed for:

• Mid-career environmental practitioners
• College graduates/University graduates
• Recent and potential immigrants to Canada

The Certificate is comprised of core courses, offered by Royal Roads University, and elective courses offered by over 25 Canadian colleges and universities. Elective courses are based on one of 10 concentration streams. Each concentration stream is a reflection of work undertaken in the environmental sector and the occupational standards for the environment industry. Royal Roads University is the administrative body for the CCEE and is responsible for program admissions and course coordination.

Some unique features of the Certificate Program for both Canadian and international practitioners and students include:

• Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) which awards appropriate academic credit for work experience 
• The option to ladder the Certificate into baccalaureate degree program (2009)
• Distance based Masters Program (2009)
• Use of the Certificate as a form of Foreign Credential Recognition
